MESA VERDE
“For over 700 years, the Ancestral Pueblo people built thriving communities on the mesas and in the cliffs of Mesa Verde. Today, the park protects the rich cultural heritage of 26 Pueblos and Tribes and offers visitors a spectacular window into the past. This World Heritage Site and International Dark Sky Park is home to over a thousand species, including several that live nowhere else on earth.” – writes the National Park about Mesa Verde.
The pueblo Indians lived here and built stone houses in the rock walls. It was a paradise for them. Some of these turned into small cities. the entire valley and the next valley and the next valley and the next… was filled with the pueblo tribes and families. This large community close to a 1000 years lived this land. today we cant imagine the life that was here in today so quite valleys.
lather, mexican-spanis missionaries find this place and they named it “green plateau” or green table”. lather the Ute tribe owned this area.
I’ve been so lucky I was here 3 times already but I’m sure I’ll be back some more times. However unfortunately its been closed from visitation for a while you can see the archeological sited just from distance. But its still gorgeous.
From the entrance its a pretty long drive till you reach your destination here. at the Far View Area the road splits. I always took the road to the Cliff Palace, because for me this is the most spectacular attraction in the park.

In these cliff built cities are not under the cliffs, in about the half way from the bottom to the top. Basically on the side of the mountain. For me it is a very hard thing t imagine how these people came up here day by day. Also they cached the rain water by building some sort of water tanks… is that was the water supply for everything?
You cant understand the form of life just simply watching the buildings and the sites. You need to read after this.
The park itself not the most beautiful park, its one of the most interesting park. Its more about history than nature.
