Virgin Islands St Thomas & St Johns May 05-09

This was my very first trip to the Caribbean so I was pretty excited about it. I watched a few YouTube video and I didn’t like what I saw about St. Thomas, but I already purchased the tickets so I had to go anyway.

I arrived on April 5th and it found out on the airport the car I booked is cancelled. So I got into a cab that basically was a 14 passenger van filled with people and we left the airport. About 15 20 minutes I’ve arrived to the hotel the Blue Beard’s Castle on the top of the hill above the city and the bay. The view is breath taking up here.
The resort is awesome. Wasn’t expensive at all at least not in early April. When I checked in they asked $250 deposit which was surprisingly high amount.
Usually the day I arrive I’m taking care of everything important I need for the travel so the stress will go away but the evening and I just have to enjoy the rest of the time. Therefore I was need to find some kind of veichle to get around with. So I hit the road by foot.
Walked down the hill to find a scooter rental place that wasn’t too far. Around the marina I did find one. But no one was there. I called the guy he said just wait 1-1,5 hrs and he will be there around 4pm. So I waited. And waited and … waited some more then I called him. He said just wait 10 more minutes. So I waited. And waited more then he said just a couple minutes. So I walked to another rental place that was near by just about 5-8 minutes walk. It was looks like a junk yard. I called the number that was placed on the door but no one picked the phone up. So I walked back. Someone arrived to the scooter place with a terrible looking beaten up red Honda. But it was a customer who returned the scooter. So I called the guy, and he said he almost there just wait. In the mid while the “junkyard” scooter rental called me and told me he don’t have a scooter. When we hung up I just seen his number matching this scooter rentals second number. So I called the first guy to find out what’s going on. He said don’t worried just wait. So what could I do? I was waiting some more. Then my wife called him he said tell your husband not to go anywhere. I tried to reach him but he’s number is not available. Which not true his partner just called me. So I decided I wait 10 more minutes and I leave. After 10 minutes I called him back he didn’t answer anymore. He didn’t answer for my wife either. So I had to walk out. This rental place made me wait 3 hours for nothing.
So I had to walk to K’s rental, it was about 2,5 miles away. But it totally worth it. The owner of these company renting brand new scooters, his asking $500 deposit and $55/day compare to the other who asked $600 deposit for $65 /day for a beaten up Honda.
Signed the papers paid and I was riding out with a brand new scooter. My first trip was back to the marina to eat and drink at The Tap & Still bar. I ordered a local Caribian beer and Korean style chicken wings which I fund expensive compare to usual and it was sweet unfortunately.
After that I was going for a ride it was already dark just to see the city and then I was going back to the hotel where I was going to swim but there people were eating and drinking so I changed my mind. It would’ve been weird swimming alone while others watching rite next to you. Some nice people from Connecticut started to talk to me and invited me for a very weird shot, that was a whiskey and pickle juice. Also there was a karaoke night so I watched it for a while before I went to bed.
Day 2
In the morning I’ve got onto my little scooter and drove to Megan Bay Beach wich suppose to be the most prettiest beach of the island.

The beach pretty lots of people, the water awesome and there is a bar and restaurant. I’ve had a local beer Virgin Islands Tropical Mango Pale Ale made by St John Brewery. I have to say the beer has no mango taste at all and not even good taste. I’m sorry but that’s the truth.

Anyway from Megan Bay beach I moved forward to coke beach. One the scooter is not so easy. The phone that got the GPS is in your pocket all the time therefore constantly have to stop to check the GPS also the island got really steep hills and the roads are terrible. I’m lucky that the people here really nice. When I got to Coki beach I parked I n the street. The parking lot costs only $5 but it was full and the beach is free.
I walked into the beach and it was nice much smaller than the Megan bay but packed with people. I walked up on the rocks to make some videos. I didn’t spend much time here. Maybe an hour or so and I left for linguist beach with uc the islands pink beach. It was only 20 minutes away from coki Beach.and it’s dirrenet form both beaches I’ve been today. The entrance fee is 5 for non residents and the parking lot is by the entrance. A nice 5-8 minutes walk downhill is the beach. I did it on my bike. Before you reach the beach the concrete road is over. It’s all gravel very well maintained. I parked rhere.

The color of the beach is so far the prettiest of all beaches out of the three. The pink color is slightly you can see where the waves touches the ground and only for seconds until the wave goes away. Also it’s visible when the sun is out. I walked dtrough the beach, the sand is soft corals all over in the deeper water that gives thee water two tones.

Also there was a turtle bed that was elkeritbe and posted signs that if any one disturbed will be punished by prison.
As I walked in the beach I realized where the pinkish color from. It’s from the died and broken coverall send that seats at the edge if the water.

After an hour I left and I was riding on skine drive. When I reached the top on downhill there was a lookout. The view spectacular. I could take enough photos and videos here. Gorgeous. Then I met with this nice older lady. She started to talk to me and it turned out she is here because his brother lives right next to the look out. Lucky fella. She lives 3 mountas away she said. Funny way to t your homesocations. She told me what vecaj to see st Jon’s Island trunk beach but do not go with scooter there because the mountains are so steep. Dangerous she said. Also she wanted me to intrude to her brother and also she said she will show me the look out to Megan’s beach and Drakes seat. So I followed her. We pakerd by the lookout to Megan’s beach. Incredible. Colorful view. She said she has almost the same view from home. How lucky these people are? The she pointed to the other side of t he road. There was drakes seat. The legend says Francis drake the pirate captain was sitting there looking for boats. If they seen one they were running down to the boat to catch them. Well if it’s true it worked out for him pretty much because I goggles and it turned out he became the riches pirate at his time. And because he was a “legal” pirate means his king or queen gave him pirateer permission to rob enemy boats when he retired and returned home he was a very rich fella.

And then I went back to the hotelel. I ve heard there was a PArty on but I was rather just going mgbroom and call my family. And I slept on the balcony tonight.

Day 3
This was an interesting day.
I tried to catch an early ferry they call batch here wich was about 25 minutes away from my hotel says by GPS witch scooter it’s always longer. Always have to stop check the GPS in your phone put the phone away. People were so polite they asked menif they can help me to give me directions. I didn’t had to asked them.
I arrived to the batch. I was told they need cash. There is an ATM I was able to take cash out. The boot needed 3 and then I nmissed my ferry with 3 minutes. So I had to wait another 30 minutes on the sun. To start lod the cars up another 30 minutes till the cars parked on the ferry because commercial truck and passengers cars had to back up on the ferry since it had a single door. I was parking almost last. The ferry was taking about another 30 minutes to arrive the island if st Jones. My first grip here was the national park visitor center. They workers here so polite. They giving more help then you ask. Walk out from behind the these showing everything you need to know and probably I was thir favorite of the day since I came with the motorcycle. They said it cray and dangerous to ride a bike on this island. You can’t even rent a bike here it’s not a business on st Jones because it’s so dangerous and difficult since the mountains are dmsteep. I was told before but you know me….
Also.i was told better to gat gas here because on this island only here I can get gas at least on these roads she showed me.
So here is the plan. See trunk beach I was told not to go any further then trunk beach b3caude it’s starts really steep after that. Also if it’s raining do not go anywhere with a scooter. So I promised and I went to get gas. I had to drive bask bear the ferry and further it was a totally different neighborhood. This island looks very poor. I felt like I’m in India and the gas station serving was about its level too. However it was interesting as well because I walkways wanted to see India.
Finally I was good to go. Hit the road again I passed by the visitor center and I was on the way to the beaches. As inwas going to rood took me very high and the view was amazing. I ahf to stop taking foyos and videos. And finally I’ve seen my beach. Who gorgeous. Of cores there was nonapkrjng I was lucky is cane with a scooter so they let me park on twh sidewalk that no one used. But looks like it’s a thing here to park on sidewalk with a scooter.
Cost was 5 to get in. It’s worth the entire trip just to see this single beach.
The water color so so so beautiful. The edge is clear then it’s greenish blueish the. It’s dark Blue. These beaches in the birgin island np is famous of their crystal waters white sand beaches and tropical forest around it. Also you can find in the national park pre-Colombian amerindian civazation remains of Danish colonial sugar plantations. So it’s famous about its diverse and comes system of coral reefs. Oy Hurricane Hole is accessible by land. You cab find costal mangrove plants beside the coral reefs sea grass beds and the thousands of species from microscopic plankton to great whales.

These beach was the most beautiful beach I ever beent to. I tank God to led me here and not to back up when gheh told menits a crazy thing to come with a scooter.

I spend the entire day and took the ferry back. Drove back another way wish the end was crazy turned and steep hills. Absolutely loved it.
And back to t he hotel. Then I went to a restaurant it’s called the Green
The restaurant has a greatocation great view to the bay and good vibe. Service awful. Food good the clamchkwer taste really Caribian with coconut milk and their own kind of seasoning. Beer was terrible.
And I called the day.
Day 4
It was my best Day on the island. In the morning I hoped on to my scooter and drove all the way to sapphire Beach. When I arrived I though I’m gonna hate this beach but it turned out I t ghis was the best beach on this island. Megan was beautiful, the coki was oke but this one has awesome colors and resting areas bars restaurants and a tiny peninsula with palm trees. I’m a guy who can’t sit on a beach all day and do nothing. Expect this veachn I didn’t wanted to do nothing just enjoy the weather, the scenery and vibe. Also I hot to know a nice fmaliy from Pennsylvania we had a good time here. We talked 2-3 hrs easily.
Such a good time after 4 I left because I purchased a laminated light kayak ride that started 7pm in the Frenchmans cove deck by hotel Marriott.

On the way back to my hotel I was taking the long way home. Skyline drive. Was awesome. But I continued and from the25 minutes ride became 1,5 hr beautiful but struggle ride. I kind of lost here, just followed the coast line on the top of the mountain then it turned me back on and even higher way with more beautiful view. But there was a steep hill the scooter could go up. I had to get off and with a small gas I power walked the scooter up to the top of the hill. Then continued I was enjoying the ride so much.

When inarrived to frenchmans cove I realized that hotel Marriott here is probably the best hotel to stay.
They got the view not as good as Bluebeard castle but still. Hugh pool life music and because they are on the beach they have programs here such as my kayak ride.
When I parked I had to het into the building into the building 5 th floor going
