BLACK CANYON OF GUNNISON
another national park I completed in early October 2023. Once i was here before, but most of the park was closed due to heavy snow, but this time the park was fully open and I was able to see all of it. The park got the most dramatic view of all the 49 National Parks I’ve seen so far. For me its impossable to write down I’ve seen here, so i just write down my day and the photos will explain everything else, however, the pictures wont give you back more than 10% of the realistic view of this canyon. So its a must see in person canyon.
The National Park itself isnt too big so it’s easy to see. Its more like in and out from your car. Every view point have its own parking lot, sometimes you have to walk 2-300 yards for the view sometimes its right there. On most of the road there is no railing so i stronly suggest to the driver… look at the road, not the view while you drive … I know it wont be easy here, i promise you that.
The first thing here that you wont realize you jaw dropped, is the canyon black and very, very deep, narrow and those steep, sharp, black cliffs and rocks looks so rugged, its calls you to climb on it. The canyon is one of the deepest and narrowest canyon in North America. Some places so narrow only 40 feet wide (12m) by the Gunnison river that runs in the bottom.
